Natural Stress Relief Is Your Best Option

There Are Many Natural Stress Relief Options

Natural stress relief can help you if you are struggling with anxiety and stress related problems. Don’t just think you have to resort to medication to soothe your anxiousness. There are many ways to find stress relief using natural methods!

Natural Stress Relief

You might have already talked to your doctor and found that he or she automatically wants to give you a prescription, but that’s not what you want.

Do you feel as though you have tried all the so-called tricks to relieve stress? Deep breathing, yoga etc? Well, if so, I’ve got lots more tips for you to try.

De-Stressing Tips

Here are some simple natural stress relief options that can help you relax and “de-stress” on your own:

  • Exercise and burn up excess energy that may be causing you stress.

Exercise elevates levels of beneficial brain chemicals, known as endorphins, which elevates mood, promotes relaxation and counters stress levels. In addition, exercise also increases testosterone levels, which shares an inverse relationship with cortisol (as one goes up, the other goes down).

For best results, exercise a minimum of three times weekly, making sure to include weight bearing exercises.

  • Get a good nights sleep so you feel energized the next day.
  • Eat a healthy diet – This can do wonders to relieve your anxiety and stress. (I call them mood foods.)
  • Aromatherapy for stress relief is very effective in minimizing tension and improving the mood.
  • Relaxation activities can always lower your stress levels.
  • Music and nature have healing effects on the soul and lifts up the mood instantly.
  • Laughter is still the best medicine and still the best way to make you forget things that brought you stress.

The number one enemy of stress is fun. Laughter is the best medicine after all, as it can do miracles, ranging from reducing blood pressure, mediating pain responses, and helping to manage the negative effects of the stress hormone cortisol. If we’re stressed, we don’t take the time to smile…do we? This only fuels the fire and more stress!

  • Eat Dark Chocolate

Eating any chocolate makes you feel better, right? However, we’re not looking at milk chocolate varieties, which are loaded with sugar and not much else, but rich dark chocolate, which contains a compound known as epicatechin.

This compound is highly sought after, as it has multiple beneficial effects on improving heart health, brain function and more, but also the ability to reduce the effects of stress, and perceived stress. Perceived stress is defined as a relative level of stress, since what affects one person may not affect another. Improving your threshold that causes negative effects is extremely important.

  • Try A Massage

Why is it that people often opt for massages for stress relief? Simple, because it works! Stress is much more than “psychological”, as its effects manifest throughout the body; muscular pain, tension, inability to sleep and much, much more.

A massage can help address some of the manifestations of stress, such as pain and tension. Some massage therapists are also trained in the art of acupressure, which is using focused pressure at specific acupoints in order to get “chi” flowing once more.

Chi (or qi) is believed to be life energy, with blockages of it resulting in many maladies that we cannot fully explain. Acupressure isn’t merely wishful thinking, as it has been documented to have profound effect on reducing stress levels in the real world.

  • Meditate

Meditation should be taught at an early age, as there is likely no other technique that has a more profound effect on many facets of human health as meditation, yet most people do not practice any. I wish I had been taught at school! Perhaps I would have learned how to cope with all the stress of exams and homework…and perfection.

Meditation does not need to be made into a complex science, but at its core involves focusing the mind on absolutely nothing beyond the immediate present. Anxiety worsens our stress burden, and meditation perfectly helps to eliminate worry of the future or past.

A doctor cannot magically make your problems disappear with a pill. So, if you choose to look at and deal with your daily dilemmas in a different manner, you may find a natural stress relief method that works better than any prescription pill ever could.
