Are Your Panic Attacks a Panic Disorder Such As Agoraphobia?

Sometimes, panic attacks are just from too much stress and anxiety. In fact, many people who are otherwise calm will find that they suffer from an anxiety attack at least once in their lives. Other times, however, a person can begin to suffer from panic attacks all the time and this might be due to a panic disorder such as agoraphobia.

Most of us don’t suffer from panic attacks when life stresses us out – at least not at first, but many people develop anxiety over time and wind up suffering from panic attacks as the amount of their stress builds and they don’t work to ease the anxiety that may be compounding in their bodies.

Do You Have Agoraphobia?

Other people, however, can experience an attack from other stimulants, such as being in an open space. If they are not in their home, these people tend to suffer from extreme amounts of anxiety and find that they commonly suffer from panic attacks. This is called agoraphobia and it’s commonly identified as the condition which won’t allow a person to leave his or her home. There are agoraphobia treatments available to you if you have this disorder and not all of them are prescription or therapy based. There are agoraphobia natural treatments available too.


Agoraphobia means “fear of the marketplace.” If you have agoraphobia, then you are suffering from a fear of open spaces or public places. However agoraphobia develops as a complication of panic attacks. Many symptoms of this condition include fear of being alone, fear of public places due to fearful thoughts, which often will cause them to be combined to a space, such as their home for long periods of time.

In case you’re wondering, you should know that your panic attacks are most likely caused from either a temporarily large amount of anxiety in your life or what is called panic disorder. In these cases, your panic attacks will likely subside over time. In the case of high anxiety, your attacks will most likely ease up after your time of stress has gone and you are able to release the anxiety enough to relax. You can improve your odds of recovering in this case by working through your feelings of anxiety and if you find that your anxiety attacks are triggered by something which reminds you of a particular event, then you might be suffering from post traumatic stress disorder and should seek treatment for it.

If you suffer from panic disorder, you need to know that you are not going to be confined to your home; in fact, your home could likely cause you just as much anxiety as any other place. With panic disorder, the sufferer is more likely to suffer from anxiety due to fear of having another panic attack and will likely find that they lack self-esteem and self-confidence due to their condition. Many times, they will avoid situations and events because they are afraid they will have an attack.

If you find that you have more than one panic attack in a short amount of time, it might be time to find a way to deal with your stress and anxiety so that you can reduce your chances of suffering further panic attacks and begin feeling good again.
