Overcome Stress With Relaxation Techniques

There are easy anxiety relief techniques that you can apply to make your days brighter and your troubles lighter. Sometimes when we are overcome with a stressful situation we feel like banging our head on a brick wall! It can feel like there is no answer or any sort of calmness in sight.

Once trained, the mind can work wonders in handling stressful situations. It is the training and putting them into action that becomes difficult. Once you have your own technique, you can implement it and feel like you can take control.

Most of us know that our spirit, when nourished with positivity, can push our mind and body to overcome these mental anguishes and obstacles.

As I always say, you can handle stress effectively using many different types of techniques in a natural manner and there are plenty of options that do not require a prescription.

I decided to see if I could find more little gems to help you…and I did.

This article, written by Susan M. Lark, M.D. and published by Healthy.net, highlights effective ways to deal with stress and life’s regular troubles. It is an actual excerpt from her book on menopause self help, but it is excellent for anyone to read.

Relaxation Techniques For Stress and Anxiety Relief

Often these charged issues evoke anxiety, fear, or upset feelings. Moreover, significant lifestyle changes death of a loved one, divorce, job loss, financial problems, major changes in personal relationships can be almost impossible to handle when a woman is already feeling anxious and tense.

Your emotional and physical reactions to stress are partly determined by the sensitivity of your sympathetic nervous system. This system produces the fight or flight reaction in response to stress and excitement, speeding up and heightening the pulse rate, respiration, muscle tension, glandular function, and circulation of the blood.

Women with recurring symptoms of anxiety and nervous tension are usually barraged by a constant stream of negative “self-talk.” Throughout the day your conscious mind may be inundated with thoughts, feelings, and fantasies that trigger feelings of upset.

Exercise 4: Grounding Cord Meditation – Sit in a comfortable position, your arms resting comfortably at your sides. Close your eyes and breathe deeply. Let your breathing be slow and relaxed.

Exercise 6: Progressive Muscle Relaxation – Lie on your back in a comfortable position. Allow your arms to rest at your sides, palms down, on the surface next to you. Inhale and exhale slowly and deeply.

When you are too busy to take a moment to just lie on your back in a comfortable position, that is when you realize, you do need some very important ‘me time’.

Exercise 9: Erasing Stress – Sit or lie in a comfortable position. Breathe slowly and deeply. Visualize a situation, a person, or even a belief (such as, “I’m afraid to go to the shopping mall” or “I’m scared to mix with other people at parties”) that causes you to feel anxious and fearful.

Self-Esteem Affirmations: I am filled with energy, vitality, and self-confidence. I am pleased with how I handle my emotional needs. I know exactly how to manage my daily schedule to promote my emotional and physical well-being. Original story here.

Sometimes the best anxiety relief techniques are the easiest things to do if only you are determined enough to achieve results.
