Finding Stress and Anxiety Relief

Stress and anxiety have become a large part of today’s way of life. Between too many activities that we try to fit into fast-paced schedules, taking the time to breathe deeply, exercise or indulge in an activity that we enjoy are usually the first things to go when the days become too busy. Unfortunately, these are precisely the types of indulgences that are necessary for stress and anxiety relief.

If you have found yourself close to breaking point because you have too many activities to balance and too many obligations to keep track of, it may be time to look at some methods for getting a handle on your stress and putting your anxieties in perspective. This process may reduce the aches and pains that are common in a body suffering from tension, and free your mind to be more productive throughout the day.

Methods of Stress and Anxiety Relief

If you are finding yourself overwhelmed with the number of anxieties that you are grappling with, one of the first things that you can do is to make a list of all of the things that are currently causing you stress. Once you have written all of the items down that you can think of, you can rate each one on a scale from one to five, to determine which anxieties you can live with – and which ones you may need to work on. Sometimes just getting those stress-inducers down on paper is sufficient to feeling less anxious about them. If not, once the problem is written down you can begin working towards a constructive solution that you can live with.

Another effective technique for stress and anxiety relief is prioritizing the activities and obligations in your life. This process will help you to understand which activities on your calendar are the most important, and which ones you might be able to live without. Figure out which aspects of your life are causing you the most stress. Is it your personal financial management? Or is it more an issue with gaining control of the family calendar.

Perhaps your closet is raising your blood pressure every morning because of the time that is being spent to search out the pieces of a coordinating outfit for the day. If your stress is caused by a certain area of your home that is in disarray, you can find relief from your stress and anxiety by cleaning out and organizing the area that is giving you the most trouble. You might be surprised at how much calm can come into your life simply by having a place for everything and everything in its place.

Finally, perspective and humor can go a long way in finding stress and anxiety relief. If something is perpetually bothering you, take the time to really analyze the situation. Is this a problem that will really make a difference in the grand scheme of your life? If your answer is no, try to move on from the situation without wasting any more time or energy worrying about it. Keep some funny books or cartoons around your house that are guaranteed to give you a chuckle when the going gets stressful. Humor and perspective are sometimes the most effective tools in finding stress and anxiety relief.
