5-HTP For Anxiety and Depression

Does 5-HTP For Anxiety and Depression Work?

Anyone suffering from anxiety may possibly have heard of 5-HTP or 5-Hydroxytryptophan. You may also have heard of Griffonia Simplicifolia. Its seeds have been used as a supplement and as a medicinal compound for treating various conditions, such as anxiety and depression.

5-HTP For Anxiety and Depression

These benefits can be derived from its 5 HTP content which is known to be a derivative of an amino acid tryptophan.

5 HTP is a chemical being produced by the body from the amino acid tryptophan. 5 HTP cannot be obtained directly from the foods we eat unlike tryptophan. However, eating tryptophan-rich foods alone is not enough to make significant increases in the levels of 5 HTP.

This is where the 5 HTP ingredient can be found in natural supplements such as ProVanax and studies have already proven its effectiveness in helping people with anxiety and depression.

How Do 5HTP Supplements Help?

  • Anxiety and Depression

The ability of Griffonia simplicifolia to help people who are battling against the symptoms of depression is very well documented. This plant is touted to be the best source of natural 5 HTP which is made up of smaller molecules capable of passing through the ‘blood-brain’ barrier.

To explain this further, the barrier does not allow large molecules to penetrate, but the smaller molecules of 5HTP enable better and more efficient absorption so that it reaches the brain faster and allows it to produce serotonin. Increased production of serotonin in the brain can significantly tone down those symptoms of depression and anxiety thereby making this herb a very effective natural antidepressant.

  • Insomnia

5- HTP promotes healthy sleep cycles because it increases serotonin and melatonin production that is responsible for regulating our 24-hour sleep cycle. As levels of serotonin increase, you begin to experience calmness and lowered levels of anxiety making it easier to fall into a night of deep sleep more easily.

  • Weight Loss

Griffonia simplicifolia contains natural chemicals that are helpful for curbing your appetite which makes it very helpful for people who are trying to shed some pounds the natural way. As a dietary supplement, it has been proven to work in helping people keep their healthy weight, especially when used as an addition to regular exercise and meal portion control.

  • Headaches and Migraines

The power of 5 HTP to reduce tension and relax the muscles can lead to a lesser frequency of headaches and migraines, including other physical pains that are brought about by stress and anxiety.

  • Hormonal Fluctuations

Since 5 HTP helps increase the production of serotonin, it can also be used for treating several symptoms of pre-menstrual syndrome such as irritability, joint pain, headache, bloating and other pain caused by hormonal fluctuations.

In order to obtain these health benefits of 5 HTP, make sure the supplement you choose contains the pure and organic form of Griffonia simplicifolia such as those found in clinically proven, doctor approved ProVanax.

If you are taking any medications, it is always best to consult with your health care provider before taking any natural supplements, as I do not know your present medical condition and I am not legally able to advise you. I can, however, recommend an all natural anxiety supplement that contains 5HTP as I have seen positive results. If you would like to know more, you can read my ProVanax review.

Cautions & Warnings
It appears that 5-HTP may be one of the most helpful natural substances to be discovered in recent years. But, our own research has shown that higher dosages (especially when used by itself) only ends up causing an individual to be tired and “life-less”. We have used a specific dose, to work in synergy with the other natural herbs and ingredients in ProVanax®, to allow one to feel relaxed, less anxiety and depression, WITHOUT feeling numb, tired and sedated!
