Natural Supplements For Boosting Dopamine and Serotonin Levels
One of the most effective things you can do to balance mood swings and be happier, is to increase your levels of dopamine and serotonin. These are your brain chemicals and have a lot to do with your feelings of happiness. Intensive research demonstrates that your dopamine and serotonin levels do have a direct effect on how happy you are in your life.
Many antidepressants and anti-anxiety medications these days include primary ingredients that encourage the production or stimulation of these brain chemicals.
However, you don’t really need to take artificial medication to boost your dopamine and serotonin levels. There are also several natural methods by which you can do this, which are all much safer than using artificial medications.
Most people who have been diagnosed with depression and anxiety eventually find out that their condition is due to low dopamine and serotonin levels.
Although these two chemicals are both considered happiness hormones, they do have unique individual functions when it comes to making you happier.
Dopamine – The Pleasure Chemical
Dopamine is the brain chemical responsible for making you feel elated or euphoric. Also known as the pleasure chemical, it is also said to be able to slow down the aging process, making you feel not only happier but younger as well. It also assist with your libido.
Serotonin – The Calming Chemical
Serotonin, on the other hand, gives you a feeling of calmness and a sense of general well-being. By increasing your serotonin levels, the less likely you are to become stressed out due to external or internal factors. A healthy amount of serotonin also enables you to deal with stressful situations much more constructively and keeps you feeling good regardless of whatever problems may come your way.
Natural Supplements For Increasing Low Levels
Taking medication to boost your dopamine and serotonin levels is definitely one option you can take, but if you want to do away with the potential side effects that come with these medications, you should look into the use of natural dopamine supplements or serotonin supplements instead.
- I usually recommend ProVanax because… “It will help increase your dopamine levels, boost your serotonin levels and it goes one step further…inhibits cortisol levels…which is known as the ‘stress and stomach fat’ hormone.”

All of us have bad days from time to time but if you find yourself feeling sad and depressed more often than happy or contented, you may need to start doing something about it.
You can start by eating the right foods to increase serotonin levels and reduce anxiety, so what better way to start than by increasing your dopamine and serotonin levels using methods that are completely natural?

I use to believe that being depressed was something that you had to pull yourself out of until I started reading up on it and realized that sometimes you just need to give in and get help or at least find ways to help yourself through it. Sometimes giving yourself natural treatments is a great answer.
Hi Rosa,
That is what so many people believe, because unfortunately when feeling that way, others will say “just get over it”. I am sure many of us can relate to that statement.
If your state of depression requires professional help, then it is important to seek help. If you feel down and blue and need a boost to lift your moods, then natural supplements are certainly ‘a great answer’.
As always some natural supplements for depression and anxiety can help (as discussed in this instance) if your dopamine and serotonin levels are low. Our hormones have a lot to answer to, don’t they?
Once we know how to keep them balanced through diet and natural supplements, hopefully it will be enough to keep other forms of treatment away.
I like to hope that our brain chemicals can be helped along their ‘happy’ little way naturally.
It’s great to know there are alternatives to (expensive) prescription drugs. They might even be safer too! From time to time I feel anxious about things and life in general and will work on getting my serotonin level up. I’ll try the food approach first. I love to snack on nuts and dairy products anyway so I’m good to go! I’ve read that nuts have other health benefits as well. As word spreads of this, maybe I ought to consider buying stock in Planters!
Hi Joel, they are definitely safer than prescription medications…and eating the right foods is an excellent start!
